The LAUNCH X431 PRO5 comes with the original SmartLink C 2.0 VCI, the current interface for the PRO5 package.

It supports J2534 Pass-Thru, CAN-FD and DoIP communication, making it suitable for modern diagnostics, ECU programming workflows and professional workshop use.

Is the device original and can it be registered?

Yes. We supply only genuine LAUNCH products.

The LAUNCH X431 PRO5 can be activated and registered through the official LAUNCH account system. Each device includes its own unique LAUNCH serial number and activation information.

After receiving the device, you can verify the serial number through the official LAUNCH system.

The LAUNCH X431 PRO5 supports J2534 Pass-Thru programming through the SmartLink C 2.0 VCI, as well as built-in online programming functions where available.

The Global Version does not have a general European IP lock or device regional lock. However, the availability of specific online programming functions may vary depending on the vehicle, control module, software coverage and region.

According to current technical confirmation, certain built-in online programming functions are temporarily not available in Spain and Portugal.

If online programming is important for your workshop, please contact us before ordering with your country, VIN and required function.

Does the device include free software updates?

Yes. The LAUNCH X431 PRO5 includes 2 years of free software updates.

What happens after the 2-year free update period ends?

The device will not lock itself after the free update period ends, and no mandatory subscription is required.

You can continue using the software version already installed on the device, including reading and clearing fault codes, viewing live data, supported Active Tests, and supported service functions.

Renewing the update service is optional and mainly provides access to future software updates, newer vehicle coverage, and supported online features.

Some functions that require server access, such as certain online programming, online coding, security gateway access, and newer online services, may require an active update service.

If you choose not to renew immediately, you can still renew later whenever needed.
